Werder Bremen star Mesut Ozil has been voted best player for the first half of the Bundesliga season by his fellow professionals. The gong, awarded by German Kicker magazine, saw Ozil top the list with 38.1% of the votes. The 22-year-old beat the league's top scorer Stefan Kiessling of Bayer Leverkusen and Brazilian veteran Ze Roberto of Hamburg. Leverkusen goalie Rene Adler won the best goalkeeper award ahead of Bremen's Tim Wiese and Schalke's Manuel Neuer. Mainz boss Thomas Tuchel earned the best coach award after helping the Bundesliga newcomers finish ninth in the first half of the season.
