Bayern Munich moved into third spot in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 home victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday. Towering striker Mario Gomez put the hosts ahead after 19 minutes with a superb low shot from the edge of the area. Monchengladbach piled on pressure to notch the equalizer and their efforts paid off on 28 minutes when a defensive lapse allowed defender Roel Brouwers to score from close range. Bayern defender Holger Badstuber netted the winner with 15 minutes remaining when his left-footed free kick found its way into the top corner. "Gladbach played a very good match and in the first half they were better than us," Bayern coach Louis van Gaal said after the game. "We are playing as we did before but the big difference is we are now scoring goals." Bayern, who secured their second consecutive league win, are three points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who visit Hannover on Saturday.
