Germany opened their U-20 World Cup campaign with an impressive 3-0 victory over the United States at Mubarak Stadium in Suez on Saturday. Semih Aydilek converted a penalty after being felled by Brian Ownby on 30 minutes to open the scoring. Germany captain Florian Jungwirth doubled the lead two minutes later with a powerful left-footed shot from inside the area. Manuel Schaeffler ensured Germany would claim all three points in their Group C opener with a close-range effort 13 minutes from time. In the other group game, Cameroon cruised to a 2-0 win over South Korea. Andre Akono Effa broke the deadlock with a 19th-minute shot and substitute Germain Tiko wrapped up the win four minutes past the hour mark.
