Claudio Ranieri has been confirmed as Roma's new boss, several hours after tactician Luciano Spalletti left Stadio Olimpico. After refusing to take over at the capital side, Ranieri was eventually coaxed into accepting the offer. Later on, he expressed his delight at returning to Roma, where he spent the early days of his career as a footballer. "It is a great satisfaction for me, but above all the crowning moment of a dream and a professional journey started many years ago," the former Chelsea manager said after completing the deal. "I am honored and convinced I can give my best for Roma, doing the best for this club." Ranieri was sacked as Juventus coach in May, following the Old Lady's series of poor results last season.
