Ahli striker Emad Meteb could make his long-awaited return from injury when his side face Gaish in their next Egyptian Premier League game on September 11th. "Meteb will take part in the team's training within few days," the Egyptian champions' doctor Ihab Ali said on the club's official website on Wednesday. "The technical staff is considering fielding him against Gaish next month." The 26-year-old has been sidelined since April when he suffered a knee ligament injury while playing for Saudi giants Ittihad in an Asian Champions League game. He spent last season on loan at the Jeddah-based club. Meteb, whose injury ruled him out of Egypt's Confederations Cup campaign, will hand coach Hossam Al-Badri a major boost if he plays against Gaish. In his absence, Al-Badri relied on Liberian Francis Doe as a lone striker, with classy playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika acting as a deep-lying forward. Meteb could partner Doe, who scored once in two league games, upfront during Ahli's upcoming league encounters. Another striker, Mohamed Fadl, is also in line to make his competitive debut with Ahli after joining in the close season following the expiry of his Ismaili contract. He recovered from a groin injury he picked up last month.
