Soliman Al-Fahim says that Portsmouth are still in talks to run the rule over Zamelek striker Amr Zaki, although the Cairo club reiterated on Friday that the 26-year-old would stay put. Pompey were mooted a while back as a possible destination for the Egypt star, but the White Knights have repeatedly laid stress on their desire to hold onto him. However, it seems that they failed to fend off interest from Portsmouth, who are still pursuing the former Wigan Athletic man despite Zamalek's hands-off warning. "We are in negotiations with Amr Zaki to bring him in on a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer," Dubai businessman Al-Fahim, who's set to compete Fratton Park takeover soon, told Emirates Business 24/7. Zaki had an auspicious start to his season-long spell at the JJB Stadium last term, having notched 10 goals in the Premiership. He topped the elite competition's scoring charts for a while, but his form notably deteriorated in the winter. Earlier this summer, an unnamed French Ligue 1 side approached Zaki, after Malaga had a €2million offer for the Masnoura-born player turned down by Zamalek. From his side, Zaki stated on numerous occasions that he would like to continue his European adventure, but Zamalek are adamant that he would spend this season at the Egyptian Premier League.
