Steven Gerrard has pulled out of England's squad for Wednesday's friendly with Holland due to a groin problem, the FA said on Tuesday. The Liverpool skipper has been struggling with a nagging groin injury during last season and was sent back to his club as a precaution. "Gerrard has returned to Liverpool as a precaution due to a tight groin," an FA statement read. Liverpool will open their Premier League season against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Gerrard is the second England player to pull out of the squad due to injury, following Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster.
