Zamalek failed to register a victory at minnows Tersana on Friday in a dull Egyptian Premier League game that ended in a goalless draw. With the disappointing result, the White Knights' winless run has been extended to six games. Zamalek newly-signed striker Mohamed Al-Morsi was included in the starting eleven for the first time, and he put in a promising display before making way for Junior Agogo on 58 minutes. Upon gaining a sole point, Zamalek advanced to ninth place with 24 points, while Tersana remain bottom with 15. Exciting Start The match witnessed an exciting start, with both sides eagerly trying to snatch an early opener. Ahmed Ghanem created the first chance for Zamalek when he whipped in a precise diagonal cross from the left flank, but Gamal Hamza failed to volley it. Ten minutes after, the tempo of the game was notably lifted. The visitors were piling up pressure upfront and Tersana were relatively dangerous on the counter-attack. On the quarter hour mark, Tersana playmaker Amr Samaka flicked the ball to Talaat Moharam, who darted unmarked from the right to latch onto the deft through, but his close-range effort hit the side-netting. Al-Morsi, who was keen to score his first goal with Zamalek, tried his luck from a good position, but goalie Joao Raphael caught the ball with no trouble. Flamboyant winger Shikabala posed a great deal of threat on the Hammers with his inch-perfect crosses and passes, but couldn't apply the finishing touch more than once throughout the match.
Former Ahli player Samaka cannoned a goalward shot on 27 minutes, but it went several inches over the crossbar. Six minutes later, Hazem Emam was cautioned when he fell after being obstructed near the hosts' penalty area, as the referee was convinced the up-and-coming winger tried to win an undeserved spot kick. Later on, the game was halted for a brief while when some of Zamalek supporters pounded away at the referee for showing Emam a yellow card. Three minutes after, Hamza feinted past a couple of Tersana defenders and released a powerful shot that drifted wide of the mark. Onslaught Early after the restart, Shikabala squandered a golden opportunity when he went on-one-one with Raphael, thanks to Al-Morsi's delicate chip, and hit a weak low shot that completely missed the target. Zamalek tightened their grip on the game on the hour mark, while Tersana were struggling to cope with the Cairo side's onslaught. Ghana hitman Agogo tried to break the deadlock once he stepped onto the pitch, but his header was far from accurate. Michel Decastel's side had the lion's share of the ball possession, but couldn't really carve out clear-cut chances midway through the second period. Tersana's Tarek Al-Sayed was close to scoring when he released a fierce drive, but guardian Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed made an incredible save, and the ball deflected off the bar. Zamalek defender Ahmed Magdi dreadfully slipped up in the dying minutes, which could have cost his team dearly. He was dispossessed by Samaka, who reached the box within seconds and was about to net a last-gasp winner, but his low shot hit both posts before ending in Abdul-Wahed's palms.
