Real Madrid have re-opened talks with Wigan Athletic to sign Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia before the closure of the transfer window, according to a Spanish report. AS said on Wednesday that the Spanish champions would make a final attempt to prize Valencia away from the JJB Stadium upon the request of coach Juande Ramos. Earlier this month, Real looked close to signing the 23-year-old but their negotiations with Wigan did not materialize. The deal collapsed because Wigan reportedly turned down Real's loan offer. Although Real still can't afford to pay €15 million to sign Valencia on a permanent basis, they will try again to convince Wigan to accept their loan proposal. Los Merengues want to land the talented winger on loan until the season's end for € one million, with an option to buy him in the summer. Should Valencia join Real, he will be eligible to play in the UEFA Champions League.
