What they said in November
Published in FilGoal on 01 - 12 - 2008

Every week, football players, coaches and officials come up with some of the weirdest quotes and statements. FilGoal.com cites a compilation of the most catching extracts said throughout November.
"Football saved me from being a criminal. I have never worked a day in my life, because I don't know how to do anything. I would say I have lived 17 years as a poor man and 9 as a millionaire. I still have 8 more to go to offset that balance." Antonio Cassano revealed his outrageous autobiography.
"We had a plan to deal with Rory Delap's throw-ins; we had worked on it." Arsene Wenger had a plan against Rory Delap's throw-ins…the result was; Stoke City beat Arsenal 2-1 with two throw-in assists from the Irish player.
"The problem is that teams score against us from the first chance they get. They don't dominate the match, they don't really put pressure on us, they simply score. We had no luck. Except for the goal our opponents did not create problems for us." In other words, Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster meant that Valladolid won 1-0, but did not create any problems for his team!
"This defeat doesn't hurt that much because it was obvious from the start that it would be difficult to win here. I never felt victory would be ours." Schuster again!
"Having a son is a wonderful experience, even if some nights are not that great. Sometimes, when my son Louis Thomas is upset, I throw him up in the air and then catch him like a ball. He really enjoys it. But my wife doesn't enjoy it much. I tell her not to worry, that I know what I'm doing, but she replies if that was the case, no one would ever score a goal in my net!" Italy and Juve giant Gigi Buffon does not have the same reputation at home.
"If Cristiano didn't becomea professional footballer, He'd have certainly become a drug addict or something like that." Cristiano Ronaldo's mother believes in his potential.
"Season Debut is coming in for Andrei Arshavin," ART Sport commentator Issa Al-Harbi's error cannot be explained...next time 'Yellow Card' will be the substitute.
"Dimitar Berbatov was a player who we brought to this club at a time when Man Utd were interested in him. We invested a lot of money, nobody had ever heard of Dimitar Berbatov when we bought him." Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy must be speaking about two different Berbatovs!
"To be a complete player, Ibra needs to score an ugly goal! He never seems to get a lucky ricochet or a clumsy tap-in, they are always fantastic goals!" Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho admits that Zlatan Ibrahimovic needs to practice more on ugly finishing.

Hossam Ashour with hair
"Before we won the Champions League, coach Manuel Jose made a deal with me and Wael Gomaa; Now I have to shave my hair and Gomaa has to keep it…or else we will not be with the team in Japan!" Ahli midfielder Hossam Ashour had to sacrifice his hair in order to take part in the Club World Cup.
"I believe Amir Abdul-Hamid could be the best goalkeeper in Africa within the next ten years," Ahli goalkeeping coach Ahmed Nagi must have forgotten that Amir is already 30.
"I'm in a relaxed mood. The fans trust me and are ready to forgive me for any uncommon blunder." Amir is obviously as optimistic as his coach.
"It helps me to get onto a golf course for four hours, and don't talk or think about football. I spend half my time looking in the trees for my ball, but at least I am not thinking about football." Steven Gerrard the golfer is not as good as the footballer.
"I predicted the exact draw before it was announced, but that is good, because whenever I predict something, the team does well after that," Egypt boss Hassan Shehata is confident his sixth sense will work against Brazil and Italy in the Confederations Cup.
"We need a striker, an attacking midfielder, a left-back and a center-back," Former Zamalek coach Reiner Hollmann believed a new team can compete for the league after January, the board believed it'd be easier to axe him than buy him four new players.
"The best decision Mamdouh Abbas has ever made is stepping down as Zamalek president, it's better this way for everyone." Former Zamalek defender Beshir Al-Tabie.
And the winner is…
"A coach is like a melon. When you look from the outside, they are all more or less beautiful. But once you open them, they may not have the same taste. I think fans are right to call me 'Fool of the Alps' (after taking over as team coach), who could be more stupid than me to do that?" Sion chairman-coach Christian Constantin.
