Ahli will be hoping to improve their league standing when they face Asyut Petroleum in Cairo on Wednesday the 22nd. With confidence high in the red castle after reaching the African Champions League final, Ahli will be working on gaining more ground in the league table. The Champions are lying 12th after only managing two wins, a draw and a defeat from their first four league games. Despite resting Amado Flavio, Hossam Ashour, Anis Boujelbene and Ahmed Hassan, coach Manuel Jose is counting that gambling on newcomers will do the job. Midfielder Hussein Ali will get the chance to feature in his first game since joining the club from Petrojet in the summer.
Strikers Ahmed Hassan Farag and Hani Al-Egeizi also have a good chance to play at some part of the game. On the other side Asyut will be looking to enforce their mid-table position. The Petroleum side are currently eighth with nine points from seven games. Earlier in the week coach Mohamed Amer said that his players' lack of Premier League experience might hinder their performance against Ahli. It is well worth noting that Ahli have four league games in hand which were postponed due to the club's Champions League commitments.
