Chelsea and Manchester United got one point each following their 1-1 draw the Premiership game played on Sunday at Stamford Bridge. Substitute Salomon Kalou's 80th minute strike cancelled out Park Ji-Sung first half opener. The game was marred by injuries as Chelsea's Deco was injured in the pre-game warm up. Both Ricardo Carvalho and Edwin Van Der Saar had to be stretched out during the game. United nearly opened the scoring within the first ten minutes, after Petr Cech's poor clearance was met by a Berbatov volley, the Bulgarian's ball found Rooney who – in turn - volleyed first time from the edge of the box but his ball went inches wide of the post. One minute on, Cole started a series of missed chances to come, the England winger went one on one with Van Der Saar but could only hit the side-netting. It seemed Chelsea's injuries were taking their toll on the team, and United found the net on 18 minutes capitalizing on a fine move between Evra, Rooney and Berbatov whose shot was parried by Cech into Park's path to tap in the game's first. United had a golden opportunity to add a second when Rooney's low cross found Berbatov but the latter's pass came behind the totally unguarded Park and the South Korean's shot was easily blocked. Didier Drogba was brought in for Florent Malouda at halftime and the substitution paid off for The Blues who looked sharper in the second half. Despite bringing on Cristiano Ronaldo and playing with three attackers, Chelsea were still piling on the pressure on United and they could have scored on 67 minutes when Ballack's brilliant pass released Cole but the latter fired straight at Kuszczak. Six minutes later, Cole was involved in another chance when his cross beat Kuszczak but Nicolas Anelka couldn't direct into the empty net. The hosts' efforts were finally rewarded ten minutes from time when United's defense were caught napping and left Salomon Kalou free to head Lampard's free kick past Kusczcak.
