Sevilla have signed French defender Abdulaye Konko on a five-year contract from Genoa, the Primera Liga club said on Friday. A statement on the club website revealed that the 24-year old Konko is set to be a replacement for departing Daniel Alves. Reports in the Spanish press suggested that Sevilla may have wrapped up the deal worth €9 million. The Primera Liga side has also announced that David Prieto signed a contract extension until 2010. Sevilla ended fifth last season and are willing to strengthen their squad ahead of next season in order to clinch a Champions League spot.
