Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' has returned to Premiership action after more than three months out, as Middlesbrough registered a 1-0 home win over Wigan. The Egypt striker was left out of the African Cup of Nations squad as he had a groin problem, but he made a return in Boro's 2-0 FA Cup win over Mansfield last weekend. Mido started on the bench against Wigan, but replaced the injured Sanli Tuncay 31 minutes from the start, after Jeremie Aliadiere scored the only goal of the game 12 minutes earlier. Boro jumped to 13th place with 25 points, while Wigan remained third from bottom on 20. Mido's Egyptian colleague Mohamed Shawky is currently with the Pharaohs in Ghana, as the CAN 2006 holders face Zambia on Wednesday.
