Egyptian striker Ahmed Hossam "Mido" is unlikely to play again this season as he will undergo a hernia operation, Middlesbrough said on Thursday. A statement on Middlesbrough website confirmed that the 25-year old striker will go under knife in the next few days. Mido's progress with the Premiership side has been hampered by continous injury problems. The 25-year-old hitman had a brilliant start with Boro but he missed a large part of the campaign because of a series of injuries. In october he has been ruled out for 10 weeks with a pelvic bone injury that forced him out of the 2008 Nations Cup. He returned to Boro six weeks ago and was sent off against Arsenal for a tough tackle on Gael Clichy.
