Chelsea defeated Tottenham 2-0 on Saturday to pile pressure on Premiership hopefuls Arsenal and Manchester United. The victory put Chelsea just four points behind leaders Arsenal, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Birmingham. United, leading Chelsea by one point, play Newcastle later on the same day. Juliano Belletti broke the deadlock in the 18th minute with a long-range shot and Shawn Wright-Phillips ensured the triumph with a low shot ten minutes from time. New-signing Nicolas Anelka came off the bench in the 58th minute and put on a fine display; rattling the woodwork and forcing a fine save from Spurs keeper Radek Cerny.
