Ahmed Hassan was on target as Anderlecht sealed a narrow 3-2 Belgian League win over bottom club Mons. The holders took a 21st minute lead through 18-year-old defender Vadis Odjidja Ofoe, but Francois Zoko leveled the scoring less than a minute later. Egypt skipper Hassan restored Anderlecht's lead five minutes from the break, Mons defender Dare Nibombe scored an own goal to make it three, before Zoko pulled one back for the visitors in the second-half. The win lifts the Purple and White to sixth place on 27 points, but they are way off leaders Club Bruges, who have 37 points and a game in hand. The Belgian League will resume on January 19th after the winter break, but Hassan will be away on international duty and is expected to miss several games. Hassan, who is Anderlecht's top scorer with six goals, will join the Egypt squad on Sunday to start preparation for the 2008 African Cup of Nations next month.
