Masri threaten to abandon Egyptian League
Published in FilGoal on 28 - 10 - 2007

Masri chairman Sayed Metwalli threatened to forfeit the Egyptian League if his side's game against Zamalek wasn't replayed.
Referee Ahmed Oda called off the game on Saturday in the 81st minute when Masri fans shouted angry chants against him for waving the game one after Wagih Abdul-Azim fell inside the area, with Zamalek leading 1-0.
However, Metwalli defended Masri's supporters and said he will take the case to FIFA if the Egyptian FA's decision was not in Masri's favor.
"The referee had no right to cancel the game because our supporters did not go beyond the limits, it was just angry chants, but there was no violence," the Masri chairman told Modern Sport after the game.
"If the game wasn't replayed, we would abandon the competition.

"I am confident that the EFA will fairly review the case, but if not, we might take the whole matter to FIFA."
Metwalli insisted that the penalty claim, which fuelled the saga, was a clear spot-kick and that the referee deliberately decided against his team.
"It was a definite penalty, even the Zamalek chairman (Mamdouh Abbas), who was beside me, admitted it," he said.
"I think Oda also saw it, but he was intent not to give it."
Despite the Masri chairman's comments, it is likely that a decision would be given against the Port-Saied club, as regulations are in Zamalek's side.
