Werder Bremen got their Bundesliga campaign back on track after thrashing title holders Stuttgart 4-1 at home on Saturday. A brace from Hugo Almeida in the first four minutes put the hosts in a commanding lead before Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez pulled one back in the 13th minute. Just two minutes later, Ivory Coast striker Boubacar Sanogo added the third for Bremen before Brazilian playmaker Diego completed the rout in stoppage time. Bremen, who suffered a stuttering start of the Bundesliga, lie seventh in the league table with 10 points while Stuttgart slipped to the 13th place on seven points. Elsewhere, Schalke move up to fourth spot following a 3-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld. Kevin Kuranyi opened the scoring in the 24th minute and Gerald Asamoah doubled the lead early in the second-half. Rafinha ensured the win 10 minutes later after successfully converting a penalty. Mohamed Zidan's Hamburg needed a Rafael van der Vaart strike in the 53rd minute to claim a 1-0 home win over Nurnberg. Egyptian forward Zidan sat on the substitutes' bench and didn't take part in the match.
