Ferguson satisfied with Shield victory
Published in FilGoal on 06 - 08 - 2007

Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson said that he was happy to see his side clinch the Community Shield trophy in preparation for their new season's Premiership title defense.
The Red Devils beat Chelsea 3-0 on penalties after a 1-1 full-time draw at the new Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
"It was satisfying to win and we can use it as a stepping stone to the big one next week," the United boss said after the game.
"I think the heat played a part and I don't think either team is 100 per cent ready."
Ferguson praised the quality of goals scored by both teams in the game, which saw Florent Malouda cancel out Ryan Giggs opener for United.
"I thought the goals were very good - Malouda took his goal very, very well," he said.

Mourinho stays positive
"The build-up to our goal was excellent too, it was a marvelous finish from Ryan. He's slotted it in a gap in the net very well."
On the other hand, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho remained defiant over his team's defeat as he claimed that his injury-ridden squad is no way near full strength.
"It was not easy to prepare for this game but what makes me happy was that Manchester United were almost at maximum power and, if you look at Chelsea, we had more than 50 percent of the team being out, but we competed against them," said the Portuguese.
"They were not better than us and that gives us confidence for the start of the season."
The Blues missed a host of injured key players for the Shield clash, including influential skipper John Terry, top scorer Didier Drogba, midfield duo Michael Ballack and Claude Makelele, strikers Andrei Shevchenko and Salomon Kalou and winger Arjen Robben.
The Premiership new season kick off on Saturday, with United facing Reading at Old Trafford, while Chelsea will host newly-promoted Birmingham.
