Barcelona have completed the signing of Lyon full-back Eric Abidal on a four-year deal for 15 million euros, the Spanish giants announced on Friday. The French champions will receive an additional 500,000 euros if Barcelona win the UEFA Champions League during the next four seasons, the Primera Liga runners-up said on their official website. Abidal is Barcelona's third signing in the off-season after they acquired the services of Arsenal striker Thierry Henry and Monaco midfielder Yaya Toure. The 27-year-old has expressed his delight at securing a move to such a prestigious club. "It has always been my ambition to play for Barça. Now the goal is the same as always, to carry on winning," he said. Abidal feels that the existence of several players who speak French will help him settle in the Catalan city. "It is important that there is is a group that speaks French and we have that link," he concluded. Barcelona are strenghtening their squad in order to make up for a dissapointing season which they finished trophyless.
