Portuguese champions Porto have repeated last season's success after slamming Desportivo Aves 4-1 to grab their second successive league title. Jesualdo Ferreira's team were fortunate to face rock bottom Aves in the final day, to finish on top with 69 points with the win, just one point ahead of Sporting Lisbon, and two points clear of Benfica. Despite Sporting's 4-0 drubbing of Belenenses and Benfica's 2-0 win over Academica, Porto managed to preserve their domination to clinch the title. In Dragao Stadium, Brazilian striker Adriano opened the scoring for Porto after 27 minutes, Aves' Moreira leveled seven minutes later, but Argentine striker Lisandro Lopez put the home side ahead in the 52nd minute. Seven minutes later, Aves defender Jorge Ribeiro scored an own goal to make it three, before Lopez added his second and Porto's fourth to ensure the victory. Porto and Sporting secure automatic UEFA Champions League places next season, Benfica will enter from the third qualifying round.
