Mainz managing director Christian Heidel is hoping that Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan would remain with the recently-relegated club for the next season. Zidan scored 13 goals in 15 games for Mainz since his arrival in January from Werder Bremen, and Heidel wishes that the team's top scorer could carry on for another season. "I met with Zidan to discuss his future, I told him to consider remaining at the club," Heidel told German magazine Kicker. "He is our best player now, he is a hero to the supporters." Zidan will make his final decision after Mainz's last Bundesliga match against Bayern Munich on Saturday, as he has a handful of offers to consider. "We have four offers so far for him. Stuttgart, Hamburg, Hannover and Nurnberg are all interested. "I think that Stuttgart are the closest team to Zidan's signature." Heidel concluded. Mainz almost have no hopes of remaining in the Bundesliga, as they trail Wolfsburg by three points with one match to go and the latter have a superior 14-goal difference.
