Al-Sayed denies quitting football following knee surgery
Published in FilGoal on 05 - 04 - 2007

Zamalek goalkeeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed has refuted reports he will be quitting football upon recovering from the knee surgery he underwent on Thursday.
The 30-year-old guardian is currently lying under observation in Damascus Hospital in Cairo after the operation.
“I'm doing fine and will leave the hospital on Saturday,” Al-Sayed told FilGoal.com from his hospital bed upon recovery.
Al-Sayed tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee in Zamalek's Arab Champions League (ACL) semi-final game against Faisali of Jordan on Tuesday.
The player was scheduled to travel to Germany for the surgery but doctors recommended he do it in Egypt as early as possible.
The Egyptian international confirmed to FilGoal.com that he has no intention of quitting football after reports claimed he was depressed from the series of injuries he suffered over the past two seasons.

Al-Sayed's injury is a headache for Michel
“I will continue to play,” Al-Sayed said repeatedly.
“I want Zamalek and Egypt's football fans to know that I will be back in training as soon as I recover.”
Doctors said Al-Sayed will need four to five months before he can feature for Zamalek again, which rules him out until the start of the new season.
Al-Sayed's injury comes as a blow for Zamalek coach Henri Michel who was banking on the experience keeper as one of the team's main pillars.
He had missed almost the entire second half of last season after suffering an injury to the same knee.
Reserve goalkeeper Mohamed Abdul-Monsef is expected to deputize for the injured A-Sayed in Zamalek's goal.
Zamalek are in contention for the ACL and Egyptian Cup titles this season after losing hope in catching up with arch-rivals Ahli who look destined to a third successive league title.
