Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Abdul-Monsef slammed reports suggesting that he will no longer be first-choice keeper as soon as Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed completes his recovery from injury. Abdul-Monsef has been Zamalek's number one guardian since Al-Sayed suffered a serious knee injury five months ago, but it was said that the latter is likely to retain his position. "I am happy that Al-Sayed is recovering, we have a fine relationship, but I cannot understand why some people are claiming that he will be first-choice keeper," Abdul-Monsef told FilGoal.com. "I started the season as number one, and I worked hard to join the national team, it is nonsense that my place would be taken so easily, especially that Al-Sayed is still not 100% fit." The Egypt international believes that he is backed by current coach Ruud Krol, who selected him in every game since he has taken charge. Abdul-Monsef was on the verge of a Zamalek exit during the team's poor run of results last season, and the 30-year old has been usually criticized by fans and some board members.
