Didier Drogba scored twice as Chelsea came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory over Arsenal and lift the Carling Cup trophy in a match that was marred by three red cards and a serious injury to John Terry. Drogba's goal cancelled out Theo Walcott's early opener before the former Marseille striker notched home his second six minutes from time to lead Chelsea to their fourth Carling Cup title in history. The match was stopped midway through the second-half when Chelsea defender Terry was knocked unconscious after being struck in face by Abou Diaby's boot following a miss-timed shot. The England international was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and was taken to the hospital. A late ugly brawl between both sides led to Arsenal duo Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure as well as Chelsea's John Obi Mikel being dismissed. Cesc Fabregas had the first chance for Arsenal after six minutes when his low drive from the edge of the area was handled by Chelsea keeper Petr Cech.
Toure...one of three sent-off Five minutes later, Brazilian forward Julio Baptista fired a powerful drive that was tipped by the Czech Republic keeper from the top corner of the net. Pacey right-winger Walcott put Gunners ahead in the 12th minute when he superbly controlled Abou Diaby's through ball and went clear on goal before hitting the ball into the roof of the net. Drogba equalized for the English champions eight minutes later after he latched on to Michael Ballack's chip bass before poking home under Manuel Almunia's body. Television replays showed that the Ivorian international striker was in a clear offside position. Frank Lampard almost put Chelsea ahead in the 73rd minute but his powerful long-range shot was denied by the bar. In the 84th minute, Dutch winger Arjen Robben raced down the left-flank before providing an inch-perfect cross to Drogba who rose above Philippe Senderos to head the ball brilliantly into the right bottom corner.
