Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan said he moved to Mainz because Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf did not believe in his footballing abilities. "I've always felt during training that Schaaf didn't count on me so I didn't have any motivation to play," Zidan told German paper Sport Bild. "But with Mainz it is totally different, I play with confidence and the manager trusts my abilities. I have already felt that during my past loan spell with them." The 25-year-old forward moved to Bundesliga side Bremen from Denmark's FC Midtjylland in January 2005. He joined Mainz last season on loan, scoring nine goals in 26 games and keeping them in the top flight.
