Inter Milan set a new club record of nine consecutive Serie A wins after defeating Messina 2-0 at the Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday. Italian international defender Marco Materazzi grabbed the lead for the hosts four minutes after the break with a stunning overhead kick into the net after being fed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic's header. Swedish striker Ibrahimovic turned to be scorer nine minutes later when he latched on to Maicon's through pass to slot home into the far corner of the net. Inter maintained their position on top of the league table with 42 points, ten ahead of second-placed AS Roma who take on Palermo later on Sunday. Elsewhere, 10-man Lazio tied Livorno 1-1 at the Armando Picchi venue. Goran Pandev fired Lazio in front in the 25th minute but Tommaso Rocchi's dismissal halted the efforts of the capital club. Rocchi was sent-off in the 58th minute after making a reckless tackle on Antonio Filippini before Cristiano Lucarelli salvaged a draw for the hosts five minutes past the hour mark.
