Alan Pardew was sacked as West Ham manager on Monday due to poor results, the Premiership club said. "Alan has made an important contribution since joining in September 2003 but this season's results have been disappointing," West Ham said a statement. "Chairman Eggert Magnusson and the board feel it is the right time to make a change in the club's best interests." Pardew was given a vote of trust in November when Magnusson's consortium completed its takeover of the club and vowed to raise funds for the boss to go shopping in January. But three successive defeats, capped by a 4-0 drubbing against Bolton, ended the honeymoon between the Hammers and Pardew. The club said Pardew's assistant Kevin Keen will act as a caretaker manager till naming the new boss. "The search for a successor is now underway in order that a new manager can be in place ahead of the January transfer window," the club added. BBC Sport reported that veteran coach Alan Curbishley is the frontrunner for the vacant job. West Ham are third from bottom in the Premiership table on just 14 points from 17 game.
