Tottenham manager Martin Jol saluted his side's 5-0 drubbing of Milton Keynes in the Carling Cup, highlighting the role of Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' during the game. Mido set the Spurs on the right track with a 36th-minute opener before feeding England striker Jermain Defoe to extend the lead before the break on Wednesday. The Egyptian international doubled his tally in the second period as Defoe and substitute striker Robbie Keane sealed the victory. "We had to rest a few players and this team hadn't played together but after (Mido's) first goal we did well in midfield," the Dutch coach said on the club's website. "Mido was excellent for the first goal, the second from Jermain was good and that made the second-half easier for us and we scored two more." Despite the thrashing triumph, Jol said the game was as tricky as any other Cup tie. "Everyone expects you to win but it can be difficult and we still had what happened against Grimsby at the back of our minds," Jol said. "It was a professional job because you never know against lower league clubs. "Milton Keynes put a lot of diagonal balls into the box and that is how they try to score goals but we defended well and took our chances."
