France and Chelsea defender William Gallas made a stunning announcement on Sunday when he revealed through his agent that he is keen on a move to rivals Arsenal. "William has decided to leave. Arsenal are interested and we have to find an agreement with Chelsea, even if I know they will do everything to keep him," agent Pierre Frelot told News of the World. "Chelsea have made us a very good offer to sign a new contract but William would like to go and we will see what happens. "However, I don't know if Chelsea will agree to sell him to one of their greatest rivals."
Wenger is searching for a veteran defender The 28-year-old stopper was hit by an £80,000 fine and stripped of his number13 jersey after extending his vacation for an extra week without permission from the club. Gallas, who is under contract with Chelsea till 2007, said earlier that he would rather move out of Stamford Bridge than sign the new four-year-deal offered by the English champions. Arsenal didn't comment on Frelot's statement but coach Arsene Wenger is believed to be searching for a senior center back to reinforce his depleted back-line. The Gunners will start the season with only Kolo Toure as a senior defender with Pascal Cygan and Lauren suffering injuries and Ashley Cole close to a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
