Capello confirmed as Real Madrid manager
Published in FilGoal on 05 - 07 - 2006

Real Madrid have confirmed Fabio Capello as their new coach one day after the Italian manager resigned from Juventus.
Newly-elected Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said that Capello agreed a three-year deal with Los Meringues.
"Fabio Capello is coming today, he's flying from Turin and will be here this afternoon," Calderon told Sky Sports News on Wednesday.
"He agreed everything and will be signing a 3-year-contract, he will join the club today and will start working tomorrow with the first team."
The 60-year-old Italian resigned from his post as Juventus coach on Tuesday after guiding the Bianconeri to back-to-back Calcio titles in two years.
The spell will be the second for Capello with Real whom he guided to the Primera Liga title in the 1996-1997 season before returning to Italy to coach AC Milan.
Calderon vowed not to follow in the steps of his predecessors who interfered in player selections and team policy
"I am not going to interfere in his work, I think it's very important for professionals to do their jobs without any interference from the board," Calderon said.
"I don't think it's the right thing to do, for the past three years we've done the opposite and we know unfortunately what the result is."

Calderon
Calderon said that transfer issues will be left to Capello to decide in light of rumors tipping Dutch duo Arjen Robben and Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo to join the 'galacticos'.
"I can't say anything about transfers yet, as I've to wait and see what Capello thinks about that, from my point of view Ronaldo is a great player and is one of the best strikers in the world, "
"Ruud Van Nistelrooy is also one of the options but it depends on Capello," Calderon added.
Brazilian playmaker Kaka and Spanish international Cesc Fabregas are also said to be on Real's hit-list while veteran defender Roberto Carlos has been tipped to make a Bernabeu exit this summer.
"I know he (Carlos) has an offer from Chelsea but it depends on how he will be involved here in the future. I haven't seen the offer (from Chelsea) but I think there is one," Calderon said.
"Capello brought him here 10 years ago and I am quite sure he is interested in keeping the player," he added.
Calderon was sure of one thing though, which is that of keeping David Beckham.
"He (Beckham) is very important for us in every sense," he said.
"He is a brilliant player and the supporters here are very much for him," Calderon said. "He is also important in the commercial area. I want to have him forever."
