Ukraine captain Andriy Shevchenko said on Tuesday that the huge victory over Saudi Arabia has restored his country's faith in the team. "I'm happy for the whole of Ukraine," said Shevchenko, who scored in his side's 4-0 win over the Arab team on Monday. "We can be proud of ourselves again after the bitterness of our defeat to Spain. We had to do well today and we didn't let ourselves down." Ukraine play Tunisia in the final Group H match on Friday. Ukraine now have three points while Tunisia have one point and for either team a win would mean a chance to advance into the next stage. "The match against Tunisia will be decisive," he said acknowledging six points would guarantee Ukraine a spot in the knockout round. "Everything now hinges on Friday's result." While the former AC Milan player, who signed for Chelsea last month, commented on the team's hopes for qualifying to the round of 16, he was also excited about the effect the 4-0 win had on team pride. "It's not just the result that's important," said Shevchenko. "The main thing is that the people can see we're playing for them, and that they can believe in us again." The 29-year-old star believes that the change between the game one's defeat at the hand of Spain and the well-deserved victory over the Saudis was primarily psychological. "During the first game we were overawed by the occasion," he said. "We let in two goals from free-kicks, then came the sending off, but today was a completely different story. "We went ahead almost immediately and played aggressive, flowing football.” Now with confidence restored, the three-time Word Cup qualifiers are ready to test their mettle against the Carthage Eagles.
