Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari expressed his happiness with his team's qualification to the last 16 round of the World Cup for the first time since 1966. Goals from Deco and Cristiano Ronaldo handed Portugal their second win of the tournament after beating Angola, which secured them a place in the second round. "This is a historic moment for Portugal, it's the first time in 40 years they have come that far, we are elated," Scolari told journalists after the Iran game on Saturday. The Brazilian tactician added that he was glad to see his players improve their performance after their unconvincing 1-0 win over Angola in their World Cup opening game. "We played better than against Angola, we showed some of our skill." "We had videos of Iran and they helped, we knew we could dominate and create chances and happily that's what happened," Scolari said. Portugal now enter their final group game against Mexico on June 21st with much comfort, however Scolari insists that he won't be taking the game easily. "We still want to beat Mexico, It is clear the game means we can finish first in the group." Scolari added that the early qualification will give his players enough time to rebuild themselves and get ready for the second stage. "We can now look at the yellows and the physical capacity of the players, we don't need to risk everything because later we'll have a game that means elimination." Portugal will face either Holland or Argentina in the last 16 round, but Scolari said he isn't concerned with who they'll meet at such stage of the World Cup. "All the opponents are very equal, I think we can get the better of any opponent," Scolari considered.
