Striker Filippo 'Pippo' Inzaghi netted a late brace to help AC Milan clinch a 3-0 victory over Empoli in the Italian league round-28 match on Saturday. Ukrainian forward Andriy Shevchenko completed Milan's winning route with an easy slide into the Empoli net. Milan held on to second place on 63 points and narrowed the gap with leaders Juventus, who play Sampdoria later on Saturday, to seven points. The match kicked-off to a blazing start from Milan, who dominated the pitch throughout most of the game with an insistent attacking-line that gave a hard time to Empoli's defence.
Shevchenko Inzaghi opened the score for Milan with a throbbing strike that left the Empoli goalkeeper gazing in the 77th minute. Shevchenko put Milan two up after playing a neat give-and-go with Kaka before slotting the ball straight into the Empoli net past a static goalkeeper in the 80th minute. Inzaghi secured Milan's victory with his second goal, and the team's third, after a Shevchenko free-kick that deflected off Pippo to settle into the net only five minutes from time.
