World number three Andy Roddick said his main goal this year is to win the Davis Cup, a feat that hasn't been achieved by the USA since 1995. The 23-year-old American is set to join James Blake and the Bryan brothers to take on their first round opponents, Romania between the 10th and 12th of February in San Diego. "Davis Cup is definitely on the top of my list of priorities,” Roddick was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "It's a huge goal for me personally and for us as a team. It would be so tough not to accomplish that goal." Roddick, who is 17-6 in Davis Cup encounters, was part of the USA squad that crashed out of the Davis Cup's first round last year as they fell to eventual champions Croatia. The Americans, who are considered favorites in the Davis Cup tie this weekend, are still wary about Romania, that includes experienced players like Victor Hanescu and Andrei Pavel. "Romania have a couple of very tough players, good guys that are veterans,” said USA captain, Patrick McEnroe. "Pavel especially has played a lot of good Davis Cup. Hanescu has had a very good last year, especially. He's a tough player. We expect a tough match.” "We're certainly looking to be primed and ready to go," assured McEnroe. USA has a 5-0 head-to-head record lead over Romania however the last of those meetings came in 1984 when the team included American legends John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors.
