England and Newcastle striker Michael Owen will be sidelined between two and three months after breaking his right foot during his club's Premiership encounter against Tottenham on Saturday. "He's had an X-ray and he will obviously be out for several months. I think it's the same bone as David Beckham broke," Newcastle manager Graeme Souness told the club's website. Owen limped out of the pitch just before the break after colliding with Tottenham's goalkeeper and England teammate Paul Robinson. The injury is bad news for Newcastle who signed the 26-year-old from Real Madrid in the summer for $29 millions. It also mounts questions whether he will restore his full form before the World Cup in June 2006. "I cannot tell you how big a miss Michael will be. It's an absolute disaster for him and it's an absolute disaster for us," Souness added. Souness admitted that the injury capped a miserable Christmas for the Saint James Park side. "It's an almighty blow for us amid a disappointing Christmas," he said.
