Egypt could set up a friendly match against highly-ranked Colombia in an attempt to improve their position in FIFA's table. The Egyptian FA's website published a list of friendly proposals for the national team, including a possible home meeting with third-placed Colombia on September 14. Egypt, who already qualified for the final World Cup qualifiers, are hoping to improve their FIFA ranking in order to avoid a possible home clash against top African sides. Currently in 62nd place, the Pharaohs are surpassed by 11 African nations which seeds them among the lower five teams ahead of the final qualifying draw in September. Africa's final qualifying phase will see the top-five-ranked group leaders clash with the lower five, with winners automatically qualifying for the 2014 World Cup. Teams will be seeded according to the September edition of FIFA ranking. Meanwhile, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Algeria are the nations who have secured their place in the final phase. Other options In addition to the potential Colombia friendly, the FA announced a number of alternatives that could take place this year. The list includes opponents like Jordan, Mali, Benin, Congo, Liberia and Mexico, although the latter would take place in October. Egypt have one game to spare in their qualifying group as they host Guinea in September.
