Hosni Abd-Rabou is set for a six-month layoff after damaging the cruciate ligament with his club Al-Nasr. The 28-year-old was forced off Thursday's league game with Ahli Jeddah in injury time and initial reports strongly suggested that it was a knee-ligament problem. Abd-Rabou's brother Tarek then confirmed the news on Friday. It is the second time in three years for Abd-Rabou to damage the cruciate ligament, having injured his other leg in 2010. He is also the third Egypt player in less than six months to suffer cruciate ligament damage as Ahmed Hegazi and Hossam Ghaly have both been sidelined since last December. The midfielder, who is one of the pillars of the Egypt squad, will now miss the remainder of the World Cup qualifying second round this year.
