Egypt dropped down 16 places in FIFA's monthly ranking to lie in their worst-ever position among national teams. After failing to reach the Africa Cup of Nations for the second year running, the Pharaohs paid the price by dropping to 70th place of FIFA's table. The severe slip saw the likes of Togo, Cape Verde and Burkina Faso surpass the seven-time African champions following the South Africa 2013 finals. Egypt, who broke into FIFA's top 10 three years ago, are now outshone by 14 African nations. CAN 2013 champions Nigeria moved up 22 places to 30th position, whereas runners-up Burkina Faso stormed to 55th by jumping 37 spots. FIFA's monthly ranking system weigh all international matches over a rolling four-year cycle.
