Ghana needed two second-half goals from substitute Mubarak Wakaso to overcome surprise package Cape Verde and claim a place in the semis with a 2-0 win. In the other match, hosts South Africa paid the price of some slack penalty shooting when they lost 3-1 on penalties to Mali, following a 1-1 draw.
