Al-Wasl have announced offloading Shikabala after adding a replacement for the Egyptian star in the winter break. Shikabala, on loan from Zamalek, was supposed to spend the rest of the season at the Dubai club who signed him last summer for a fee of $1.25million. Despite some impressive displays that made him a fan favorite at Zabeel Stadium, Al-Wasl have surprisingly ditched the 26-year-old for the sake of Brazilian forward Jose Carlos Ferreira. However, Shikabala's future remains unclear as parent club Zamalek are unwilling to recompense Al-Wasl for the unexpected return of the midfielder. Al-Wasl have an option to loan him out to a third club or send him back to Zamalek for free. Shikabala has been nursing a thigh injury recently, which makes him doubtful for Egypt's friendly game against Chile next week.
