We want to have lunch Yoyo wa miratuh Carmella kano masheen fi Shaarie Adli Pasha fi wassat el-balad youm el-sabat baad el-dohr. Homa kano gaaneen awey.
Homa shaffo mataam. Yoyo azzam Caramella alla el-ghada.
Yoyo and his wife Carmella were walking down Adli Pasha Street in
downtown Cairo on Saturday afternoon.
They were hungry. They saw a restaurant. Yoyo invited Carmella to
lunch.
Yoyo: Tehbi taakli eih alla elghada,
ya Carmella?
Yoyo: What would you like to eat for lunch, Carmella?
Caramella: Ana awza nos farkha mashwiya, wei maahshi waraq enaab,
wei salata khadra.
Caramella: I want half a grilled chicken, stuffed vine leaves and green
salad.
Yoyo: Haader. Tehibi teshrabi eih? Fi assir mangah, lamoon, aow
bortucal tazzah.
Yoyo: All right. What would you like to drink? There is fresh juice,
mango, lemon or orange.
Carmella: La. Ana awza izzazet maiyah maadaniyah soghairaah. Wei
enta tehib taakol eih, ya Yoyo?
Carmella: No, I want a small bottle of mineral water. And what would
you like to eat, Yoyo?
Yoyo: Ana awez akol ruz bil khalta, wei tabaaq lahma mashwiya (kabab), wei hommos, wi battates mehamara. Wi awez ashrab izzazet hagaat saaqah kamaan. Tayyeb, tehibi tehali eih, ya Carmella? Feih krem karamel, mahlabbiya, ruz bi laban, Om Ali, wi fakha tazza.
Yoyo: I want rice with cow liver, a dish of grilled beef, checkpea salad and fried potatoes. I would like a soft drink, too. What would you like to have for dessert, Carmella? There's creme caramel, milk pudding, rice pudding, Om Ali and fresh fruit.
Carmella: Ana awza Om Ali bil mikasraat.
Carmella: I want Om Ali with nuts.
Yoyo: Bil hanna wa al-shifa (bon appètit) ya Carmella.
Carmella: Maalesh, ya Yoyo. Ana naseet. Ana ba'amal regime. Carmella: Never mind, Yoyo. I forgot. I'm on a diet.
