Egypt's Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority (MRMIA) signed a Letter of Intent on Thursday with Australia's Murdoch University to transfer advanced mining expertise from Western Australia through specialised training programmes for Egyptian personnel. The agreement includes workshops on strategic regulation, governance, inspection operations, and critical minerals and advanced deposits systems. Training may be offered online or in hybrid formats, and the authority plans to extend the collaboration to Egyptian universities. Following the signing, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy met with Murdoch University officials, praising the framework as a step towards sustainable development in Egypt's mining sector. He said the programmes would strengthen regulatory capacity and provide practical exposure to best practices at regulatory bodies and mining sites in Western Australia. The first programme, a workshop on strategic regulation, governance, and inspection operations, is being finalised, with additional joint initiatives expected to follow to further build human capacity in the sector.
