Egypt is prioritising the acceleration of new Egyptian private sector investments in phosphate extraction and manufacturing to maximise added economic value from the mineral, said Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawy on Monday. Speaking during a meeting with Mostafa El-Gabaly, CEO of Polyserve Group, Minister Badawy highlighted the ministry's commitment to supporting both Egyptian and foreign private investors in expediting the implementation of their projects. This move aligns with the third pillar of the ministry's broader strategy focused on developing the mining sector and enhancing its economic returns. The meeting discussed fast-tracking an integrated new project by Polyserve to extract, exploit, and process phosphate into phosphate fertilisers and phosphoric acid, building on the group's expressed interest in expanding its activities. Officials agreed on clear coordination steps between the Petroleum Ministry, theMineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority (MRMIA)- formerly Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA), and Polyserve to accelerate the project launch.
