Al-Ahly were relieved to discover that striker Emad Met'eb doesn't need surgery for his back injury after undergoing scans in Germany. Egypt's striker, who missed the Champions League defeat at Ittihad Tripoli, was complaining of back pain after the 3-3 draw with Zamalek ten days ago. "Doctor Ihab Ali says that Met'eb only needs ten days to recover," director Hadi Khashaba told the club's official site on Monday night. "The news comes as a relief to the management because we were afraid that Emad needed surgery. He could well be fit for the return game against Ittihad." Ahly are expecting a tough battle in Cairo on May 9 as they aim to overturn a 2-0 deficit to the Libyan champions. Meanwhile, Egypt's midfielder Mohamed Shawqi said on Tuesday he has no intention of returning to his old club Ahly in the near future. The Kayserispor man refuted media reports linking him with a summer move to Cairo, as he aims to keep his Europe career alive. "I am staying with Kayseri unless I get a better offer from Europe," Shawqi told his personal website. "There is no reason for me to return to the Egyptian League now, but if one day I do decide to go back, my priority will be Al-Ahly." Egyptian champions Ahly are believed to be looking for a central midfielder, having recently been linked with Egypt duo Hossam Ghali and Hosni Abd Rabou, who both play in the Arab Gulf. The Red Devils, meanwhile, will encounter Mansoura in the Egyptian Premier League in Cairo on Thursday. The game could be the league decider for Ahly, who still need one point to clinch a sixth successive local title. If Ahly draw or win on Thursday, it will be a special occasion for el-Badri, as it will be his first league title as Ahly's coach. Ahly have 57 points, while, Mansoura, threatened with relegation, only have 16 points.
