TOP Government officials, led by Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif, on Friday night paid their last respects to Sheikh Mohammed Sayyed Tantawi, the Grand Sheikh of Al- Azhar (Sunni Islam's pre-eminent theological institute), who died on Wednesday in Saudi Arabia of a heart attack. A special mourning ceremony for the top Muslim cleric was held in the Omar Makram Mosque in Cairo, where the officials, parliamentarians and Muslim and Coptic figures lauded his efforts over the past 40 years.
