Red-handed
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 26 - 02 - 2010

Two heirs wiped out: A worker went berserk and opened fire on his relatives with an automatic weapon, in the course of an argument over the family inheritance. He shot dead two of them, a worker and a student, and injured three more.
The tragedy happened in the village of Manshiyet Soleiman near Atfeeh, Giza Governorate where Kamal Abdel-Rahman
Mohamed (45) fatally blasted his 40-yearold brother, Arafat, and their sister's son, Youssef Nadi Taha (20).
Kamal also injured Shehab Eddin Abdeen (15), Ahmed Nadi Taha and Tareq Mohamed Kamel (also 15). When arrested, the suspect surrendered his weapon said he lost his cool because Arafat refused to give him what was rightly his, according to their inheritance.
A disturbing death: A mentally disturbed man, who'd been receiving treatment for his condition, killed his mother in their home in the village of Abu Dasheesh near Beela in Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate. He stabbed his victim, 55-year-old Souad el-Ashmawi, in the chest, stomach and back.
After slaying his mother, Alaa (29), who got a secondary school certificate from an Azhari institution, ran off, before being caught later. The fact that he was mentally disturbed didn't prevent him from knifing his mother when he knew that the rest of the family would be out at the local mosque for the evening prayers.
Assisted rape: A driver kidnapped a woman who was on her way home from Tenth Ramadan City at knifepoint. He took her to his flat in el-Sharqia Governorate where he raped her with the help of his wife and mother.
The first police heard about it was when the victim's father, an instructor in an Azhari institute, told them that his 20-year-old daughter, who has a diploma from a commercial secondary school, hadn't come home and he was now very concerned about her whereabouts. She'd left the family's flat in a village near Belbeis, in order to go to the company she works for, to pick up some papers she needed, as she was preparing to get married in a few days' time. After picking up her papers at the company in Tenth Ramadan City, she'd got a lift home in a truck that was used by its owner as a taxi.
Instead of taking her home to the village near Belbeis, he did a detour to his own home, where he raped her repeatedly over the next three days. The unnamed rapist and his two assistants have now been arrested, after officers raided their flat, while the victim has been reunited with her family. Carbonised accountant: A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a retired accountant, whose carbonised body was found in his flat in el-Khanka, el-Qaliubia Governorate. The suspect, a worker, killed the pensioner then set fire to his body to try and cover his tracks. The motive for the murder was theft.
The name of the victim was given as Hassan Ali (50). The man who killed him was his friend, Ebeid Fawzi (22). Ebeid gained access to Hassan's flat one night. He knew that he would be on his own and therefore easy to rob. However, his friend woke up, so Ebeid used a knife to silence him, before torching his body.
