The entire Egyptian society is waiting for the Higher Administrative Court's verdict today on the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly. This verdict will be binding and needs to be respected. The population should shoulder the responsibility and work for the sake of the country and future generations. It is unfortunate that many opportunities have been squandered. After the January 25 Revolution, there was a chance to draw up a new constitution that would be an improvement on the previous one. But thanks to disagreements and mutual accusations amongst the involved parties these opportunities have been lost and the struggle continues. The Constituent Assembly has not met our expectations; our dreams and hopes remain unfulfilled. If the court verdict results in the assembly's dissolution we are back to square one, but time is running out. The new constitution should serve for a long period and not just focus on our current needs and views. It has to be future-oriented. The constitution needs to consider the ambitions of the Egyptian people as well as future developments. Drawing up a new constitution presents the golden opportunity to improve our laws and legislations, which will lead to a genuine renaissance in Egypt. [email protected] [email protected]
