Egypt will meet with International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials next week to determine the timing of the Fund's fifth and sixth review missions to Cairo, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Tuesday. Speaking at a press conference, Madbouly said the meetings will take place on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank annual gatherings in Washington, D.C., where the Central Bank of Egypt's (CBE) governor and key economic ministers will represent Egypt. "The official date for the review will be announced once it is agreed upon," Madbouly said, reaffirming the government's commitment to maintaining macroeconomic stability and strengthening international confidence in Egypt's economy. He added that IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva had praised Egypt's progress in implementing its economic reform program, saying it was on the right track and voicing hope that the fifth and sixth loan reviews would be completed soon. The reviews are part of Egypt's ongoing $8 billion Extended Fund Facility programme with the IMF, which supports fiscal consolidation, state asset sales, and exchange rate flexibility as key pillars of reform.
